What fingerprints tell us is that no two persons in the world are the same. We are called individuals because we have individual preferences, needs, and characteristics that make us human. But although it is true that no two persons are exactly the same, everybody, just like birth and death, goes through something inevitable--puberty.
Puberty is that moment when your body goes through a lot of changes to prepare you for adulthood. At this point in your life, your body changes faster than any other developmental points in your life. This happens between ages 8-13 among girls and 10-15 among boys. So, how does your body change when you go through puberty?
When girls turn into women
By your pituitary gland releasing hormones, your body will start making the changes that jump-start puberty. First off, the hormones aim at your two ovaries. Once these hormones target your two ovaries, you will start releasing another type of hormone, estrogen, which will enable you to have monthly menstruations. Having menstruations can also be an indication that a woman is already capable of bearing a child or being pregnant.
During this time, your body shapes tend to change as well as you become curvier because your hips widen. Your breasts also start to develop during this age which will start from just a swelling under the area of your nipples, until the entire area will develop, too.
Hair on your underarm and on your pubic area will also grow during this time. At first, hair will look soft, light and thin, but as you grow older, these hairs will start growing to be thick, coarse, long, and curly.
When boys turn into men
As for boys, the hormones released by the pituitary gland go to your testes. By this time, our testes will start producing testosterone and sperms. The testosterone is the one responsible for the other changes in a boy's body once he undergoes puberty. Sperms, on the other hand, are the substance that unites with egg cells to be able to produce an offspring.
Other changes that happens in a boy's body during puberty includes: the widening of the shoulders and the muscles starting to get bigger; the manifestation of the Adam's Apple which is the larynx getting larger; facial hair, underarm hair, and hair on your pubic area starts to grow, among other things.
These changes are inevitable and these changes are actually good for you because they prepare and equip your body for the next stage of life, adulthood.
